DESCRIPTION
Electrodialysis
(ED) systems separate ionic species from aqueous solutions using an
applied direct current potential across ion-permeable and selective
membranes. A unique feature of Exergy’s ED systems is the ED cell
frame, which is optimized to provide high separation performance.
The cell design is based upon an integrated spacer system and
provides a high internal and external density of membrane stacks.
The ED cell features patented “leak-free” modules. Each ED cell has
a thickness of only 0.5 mm, which provides superior performance to
conventional ED systems. The ED membrane stacks operated in a serial
mode achieve high desalting rates. The ED membrane stacks operated
in a parallel mode provide high capacity.
